My name is Amy. I’m originally from the west coast of the United States, and I’ve very much enjoyed living in beautiful Sydney, Australia. Living abroad for nearly a decade in total, Australia is the third continent I’ve lived on.
I’m intrigued by the different cultures I experience wherever I travel. Trying to explore these all in both a humorous humourous and positive way, I enjoy sharing about anything which I notice is unique to Australians. I hope you’ll enjoy what I share as well, and I hope from this that together we can learn something new and fun!

Nice blog … As someone who has lived in the US twice, I’m enjoying seeing someone writing from the reverse situation.

Hi, Neat post. There’s a problem along with your site in web explorer,
would test this? IE still is the market chief and a good section
of other people will pass over your wonderful writing because of this problem.
Hello Amy,
My name is Lori and I plan to be an Australian transplant. I have been searching (blog stalking) for people who have made the move to Australia so I can ask questions about everything. If you would be willing to help with my numerous questions that would be great.
Have a fabulous day
Lori
Do your site is open for advertising?

Hello thingsaussieslike.wordpress.com,
I hope you are doing well 🙂
My name is Hara, and I am currently interested in working with bloggers like yourself that would be interested in both distributing the content I can supply you with, and creating / posting / sharing content that you create.
We currently work with a couple APAC (Asia Pacific) hotel chains every month in getting content live so are very interested in hearing from you.
The content is always based around the location of the client, which can be generically based or go into detail on an interest type / event.
If you were to write the post, we would give you the location to write about, and then work with you on topic creation to ensure it works well with your readers.
If you are interested, can you please let me know a price for each of the following (where offered); if we write for you, if you write for us.
We are also very interested in getting your readers involved with the posts, so we would love to ensure the posts you write are shared on all your social media platforms. Along with a promoted post on Facebook, to your own blog.
If you would be sharing the posts on your channels please let me know, and if you would be interested in receiving a little extra for a promoted post, let me know also.
I look forward to working with you in the future, have a great week!
Thanks,
Hara

Schooner = Pronounced “skooner,” it’s a large beer glass, generally holding a pint or more.
incorrect. A pint is a pint. a schooner holds 375ml.
Sorry readers for not replying sooner! I’ve been as busy as a bee, getting myself situated here Down Under! I’ll be responding to comments in a few weeks. Cheers!
Dear Amy,
My name is Joyce and I work for ExpatFinder.com.
ExpatFinder.com is a free one stop website for people preparing to move or working and living overseas. We provide a myriad of services for expatriates and we have over 2,000 articles to help and support the people moving around the world and we are now creating an interview section to help the expats with real life experiences!
We quite enjoy your blog about living in Sydney, it is very interesting and informative. Would it be possible to interview you to further share some of your tips and feature some of your first hand experience as an Expat and your interview will be published on our Expat Interview section as a guide for our expat readers. The questions are mainly about the day to day lifestyle of an expat. If it would be possible, could you also send some photographs that we can use?
Of course, if you accept, we can add a link to your blog or some of your website.
The questions are enclosed, feel free to respond freely. You can return the doc with your answers if you accept this invitation.
Thanks in advance and do let me know if you prefer other means to conduct this interview and we would be happy to accommodate your terms.
Best regards,
Joyce
Just let me know, Joyce! I’ll be happy to do an interview.
Cheers!
Amy
Wonderful site! well done. but I have one qualm where you say – “Flat white = Coffee with milk or cream.”
Not quite right: If any Australian cafe put *cream* in my coffee, there’d be a scene. A Flat White contains normal milk (which we describe as ‘homogenised full-cream milk’, it has 3% cream content, approx) but no one ever adds cream. Contrast this with a ‘skinny flat white’ which uses low-fat milk instead of normal milk.
Please update! No cream in our coffees!
Thanks,
Jeremy, Canberra.
